PRESIDENT
Paula Chumbley, CKP President With over 25 years of experience as a paralegal working in Louisville, Kentucky, Paula Chumbley is a member of the Kentucky Paralegal Association and a Certified Kentucky Paralegal. She is also a member of Louisville Association of Paralegals and is currently employed as the Director of Corporate Governance & Licensing for Churchill Downs Incorporated where she has worked for 7 years. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a Minor in English from the University of Louisville, Paula obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies from Sullivan University in 2009. Paula is a mentor with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Kentuckiana volunteering in the School and Workplace Program. Recently, she served as Secretary of St. Francis Xavier Finance Committee and a volunteer mentor with Maryhurst. |
Wendy Lucas, CKP Vice-President Wendy Lucas is the Senior Paralegal for the Academics, Finance, Students, and Athletics group in the Office of Legal Counsel at the University of Kentucky. She has over two decades of legal experience, having worked in private practice on both the plaintiff and defense sides. Her practice areas have included commercial and contract litigation, labor and employment law, medical malpractice, and personal injury. Wendy earned her Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies from the University of Louisville in 2002, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies in 2003. She is a Certified Kentucky Paralegal and an active member of the Kentucky Paralegal Association, where she serves as the Director of Professional Development. She is also a member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals. Passionate about professional growth and legal education, Wendy is dedicated to supporting the advancement of paralegals through continuing education and leadership initiatives. Outside of her legal career, Wendy enjoys participating in motor sports and spending time with her family. |
Secretary Lea Ann graduated from Greenville University, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership. In 2001, she completed her paralegal studies and earned the Certified Paralegal status through NALA. Lea Ann’s legal career originally started in St. Louis, where she worked for Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in trusts and estates, corporate and real estate and Armstrong Teasdale LLP in medical malpractice defense. After moving to Indiana, she initiated the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program in Scott County, and served as the Executive Director for 8 years. Lea Ann is currently at Stites & Harbison, PLLC, in product liability defense. Lea Ann has served many years with Purdue University as an Extension Board member and advocacy on the P-CARET state and national level. She is also the Secretary for the Scottsburg Band Parent Association for her youngest daughter. In her free time, she enjoys her family, scrapbooking and gardening. |
David Mohr started his paralegal career in 1989 with Mapother & Mapother, where he left in 1999 as the Sr. Paralegal/Trainer. In 1999 he started doing legal staffing in the legal community until 2009 when he went back to work as a paralegal for Lloyd & McDaniel until 2010, at which time he went back to doing legal staffing for the Louisville Bar Association. As of the start of 2025 David is now employed as a paralegal once again for Deatrick & Spies. During the course of his career, he has filled various board positions for the Legal Assistants of Louisville from 1999-2023. David’s also been a member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals since 1999 on and off, and has most recently served as Treasurer for the LAP. He also was a member of the Association of Legal Administrators from 2019-2025 and served on the U of L Paralegal Advisory Board from 2011-2017. |
